How listings are vetted

  1. 1

    Start from the record

Every listing begins as a public business record on Google Maps.

  2. 2

    Keep the real ones

Open businesses with at least one review stay. Duplicates are merged.

  3. 3

    Read what the business says

Each business's own website and its Google Maps description say what work it does. What they state is marked.

  4. 4

Say when we do not know

Where neither source says, the listing reads "not enough info", never a guess.

Open, reviewed Missouri businesses in the house cleaning category, pulled from public business records.

Each company's own website, or its public business listing when the site cannot be read, was read on the date shown; a listing claims only what that source states.

Duplicates are merged and businesses the publisher owns are left out.

A listing with fewer than five reviews or no description is shown but kept out of search engines until it is reviewed.

Owners can claim a listing to correct details or add photos. A person checks every claim. Published by Jason Ellis.

How to choose a house cleaner in Missouri

Missouri does not license house cleaners and does not tax residential cleaning services, so the useful questions are about the company itself: who is coming, whether they are insured and checked, what the first visit covers, and what a recurring visit keeps up. This guide walks through those questions in the order a homeowner usually meets them.

Frequently asked questions

How are house cleaners listed here?

Every listing starts from public business records for Missouri. Open companies with at least one review stay, duplicates are merged, and what a listing says about its services comes from the company's own website or, when the site cannot be read, its public business listing, read on the date shown.

Do cleaners pay to be listed?

No. A basic listing is free and nobody pays to be included. A company can claim its listing to correct details. Every paid placement, whether a premium listing, a featured spot for a city, county or the state, or a best-of position, is marked as paid wherever it appears.

Does Missouri license house cleaners?

No. None of the 41 boards under the Missouri Division of Professional Registration (pr.mo.gov) covers house cleaning, so there is no state license to check and a company's own statements about insurance, bonding and background checks are what to ask about. Each listing shows which of those its website or public listing states.

Is house cleaning taxed in Missouri?

Residential house cleaning services are exempt from Missouri sales tax under the Department of Revenue's Janitorial Services Tax Matrix (dor.mo.gov, effective November 2022), so a quote should not add tax on the service itself.

What is the difference between a deep clean and a recurring clean?

A deep clean is a one-time, top-to-bottom visit that covers what a regular visit skips. A recurring clean is a shorter weekly, biweekly or monthly visit that keeps a home at that level. Many companies do both; each listing shows which it advertises.

How does a business correct or remove its listing?

Use the claim form on any listing page or the contact page. Corrections are made once we confirm you are the owner or manager, and a removal request is honoured at the next rebuild, within a week, no questions asked.
